I love music. Much respect to the Ojays but not ANY kind of music. The sounds that tend to wet my palette are hard to define and categorize. They are extracted from sometimes avant garde DNA only to be genespliced into intelligently accessible strands of aural possibility. That's a $1.50 word way of saying I like my music challenging but am not adverse to it being simple and pleasurable as well. The artists we program for the URB ALT Festival and commit to our Samplers all fit in that broad chasm of everything and nothingness. They have little to do with each other on a subsurface level except for the fact that they are sincere about the modes of expression they present to the public. I dig and honor that. URB ALT Festival 2010 launches this Friday, June 18th at The Harlem School of the Arts. It's our 5th anniversary and I wanted to share with you all URB ALT Sampler-Tres, a brand-spanking new FREE digital download compilation of some of the coolest music and visual art we've come across in the last couple months. Thankfully most of these artists will be presenting their work during the 5 dates of the URB ALT Fest. I WISH that the others were a part of our offering. On any account you get to take them all home with you now to create special moments.
