@Muthawit Well, R. Crumb's The Book of Genesis is a literal illustration. There aren't any drawings of Mr. Natural as God, Cheryl Borck (sp) as Lillith or Flakey Foont as Moses.

@Kambui You got a Crumb coffee table book for $5. Dang, was that at the Strand or somewhere in NYC? @Sketch How reverent is Crumb's take on the book of Genesis, visual and storywise?

I also love the book Crumb did about Kafka's life. What a great event to be at.

I got R. Crumb's Coffee Table Art Book for Christmas actually awhile back. What I admire about R. Crumb is that he stayed true to his art and still broke through.

I completely dig R. Crumb. I was at a "used" bookstore a few years back and picked up a new copy of R. Crumb's Coffee Table Art Book for five bucks. "Fools," I thought. Too bad they only had one copy. It's great that you had the chance to meet an...

Leila Adu's Dark Joan review

When listening to Leila Adu’s "Dark Joan," one word describes the album, "theatrical." At first listen, it sounds like the soundtrack to a sleeper indie film that ends up making it big within the first week of it's release. S… Continue

Are You Freaking Serious?!

When I read the Huffington Post's editorial entitled "Hey Michael Steele Don't Forget the Watermelon" by Earl Ofari Hutchinson, all I could think was "ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?!"

Okay, here's the deal. Due to pre-civil rights "white is right" brainwashing, a lot of black families had to adhere to the social norms at that time. But, thanks to Civil Rights and black empowering movements, those same families embraced there blackness and progressed into a more open mindset. But, at that same time,… Continue

The Obligatory Tirade Against The Vultures and Buzzards Called The Media...

Okay, these comments are just thoughts. Nothing to read into deeply, these are just thoughts pathos with some remnant of ethos and logos sprinkled about. Here's the deal, A lot of us have make the expected Michael Jackson joke that was in bad taste. I'm not excluded, but I've noticed how the media is hypocritical by trying to emanate this feeling of lament. But, the media plays a major part in his downfall.… Continue

Happy Cinco De Mayo

Today we recognize when troops under General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín went up against the French troops that out numbered the Mexicans and whooped the French's ass. Learning this, it shows that you can overcome even the most unlikely odds put against you...remember that.

But for my heavy drinkin' mofos out who could give a shit less about history, this is just a good excuse to get ripped off of Tequila and try to score with hot senoritas,to them "Happy Drink-O de Mayo!" Prepare to do stuff that… Continue

I think you were right about my husband. He does deal with things differently. The way I wrote the blog was kind of unkind. He's not a child. He's a grown man. And he does deal with things differently. I'm sure he'll miss us. I KNOW I'll miss him.

I made my hotel reservations tonight for DC! Yeah! We'll be chillin at the posh Holiday Inn. Lookin forward to meeting you, Sketch. Peace.

We'll be down there next Tuesday, Dude. Gotta figure out how to connect while we're in the city. You doing the sane thing and staying home or are you getting out with all the crazies(US) and fighting the cold?
