Wow, that sounds good and interesting. I still eat seafood so I like to make grilled seafood and veggie kabobs. But you can always replace the seafood with those little new potatoes and carrots. Or make some veggie chilli with textured protein. You'll be full as a tick!! lol

My Summer Time Lover- Mexican Corn on the Cob (Elote)

4 ears corn, shucked
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup grated cotija cheese
4 wedges lime (optional)
Cayenne to taste


w/ some kind of tequila drink

Hey Ya'll!!!
I am sitting here in tears! Ya'll crazy! LOL
But my family is from the south too and they ate everything, as they say from the rooda to the tooda! LOL
But check it, there's gonna be a pic nic after the festival on Sunday and I wanted to ask everyone what we can bring. I would like to do some veggies on the grill so we will need to find an area in either Central or Prospect Park that has the grills outside. And I'm vegetarian but still eat fish, so if you can make it let me know what you're bringing. I'll probably do some grilled Salmon and/or Talapia.

Nope. Never told her. I think she would have sent me out back to get a switch even as a grown man. LOL Ruby Young was fun and the best grandmother in the world (doesn't everyone pretty much feel that way bout theirs?) but she did not play if you know what I mean. :-)

Funny story: when I was about 7 or 8 my granny on mom's side used to be the head cook in the high school cafeteria in Tupelo, MS. This brother named Mr. Tom would come by every other day to deliver those cookies that they use for ice cream sandwiches. My grandmother would take the homemade ice cream that she made and put them between the cookies to serve to the students. Of course, us being her grandkids she snuck us a couple of ice cream sandwiches too. I couldn't get enough so one day I went looking into the BIG deep freezer that they had in the high school. I saw the cookies and ice cream and crawled inside the thing with the lid closing behind me. I couldn't get out but never panicked cause the only thing that was on my mind was having those ice cream sandwiches to myself. It didn't immediately cross my 7 year old mind that I would 1)freeze or 2)suffocate. I ate about 3 sandwiches and then suddenly realized my predicament. Being an intelligent boy I pulled the plug out of the wall from the inside (turning off the freezer and damaging the power supply). Knowing that I was going to be killed anyway when my grandmother found me I proceeded to eat more of the sandwiches. Suddenly the lid was pulled open by one of my cousins who happened to have the same idea about liberating a few sandwiches. He let me out and I gave him three for his trouble and silence. When we got home that evening my grandmother was pretty angry cause the power had gone out in that DURN freezer at work. My cousin and I said nothing. I am alive to type this story. The end.
