In the interest of balance I suppose we should start a discussion about interesting things that we enjoy. I have a ton of these but I'll start off with a short list.

1)The smell of a newborn babies breath. Damn, if I could bottle it as some kind of perfume.
2)The smell of the air right after a rain in Mississippi. The water rising up out of the soil smells for lack of a better word "peaceful."
3)Listening to elder folks tell stories. Especially when they get to the parts where they are telling LIES and know that you know that they are riffing on the truth. LOL It's all about building the legend!
4)Riding through those electric car washes when the automated brushes roll across the window. When those big heat guns blow on the car to dry it off it's like nirvana to me.
5)Going to cities I haven't visited before and getting LOST.
6)Opening the plastic on a new vinyl LP. What a rush that I truly miss. Opening CD cases is actually more frustrating than enjoyable but at least there is that sense of receiving a present. Downloads, even though I appreciate the immediacy and democratic possibilities are just meh. Nothing like opening that old vinyl and pulling out a poster or lyric booklet. Y'all ain't know?

That's me..for now!

I got a couple more that just occurred to me.

1)Clipping my toesnails after they've gotten long. The big toe is especially exciting when you can get all back in that corner where that sock dirt collects. Y'all know what I mean.
2)Getting my head scratched and oiled. Heavenly vibrations!
3)Soaking in the bathtub (best place I find to THINK)
4)Watching my brothers work. They some baaaaad dudes!
5)When it's cold: putting my hands as close to a fire or heater as I can without the skin burning. Hmm.

@ Dwayne
#2 is one of the first things I liked about Mississippi when visited for the first time as a child.
Where did you go in Mississippi back in the day? You have family from there or something?

-When I notice that people are experiencing something for the first time or something that was spontaneous
This is a great. I especially love this when it's something I have experienced so much I take it for granted. It's like getting a heart and eye transplant simultaneously.

@ The smell of bleach and laundry detergent and Trainhouses I definitely co-sign. I believe the cleaning materials remind me of my grandmother.

1. The laughter of my son Maxim makes me completely elated.

2. Going hiking deep in a dark, mossy forest where the only footprints are my own and the creatures that live there.

3. People's hands and feet... observing their gestures, holding them, transferring energy between mine and theirs...yum!

7. Cooking for people I love and experiencing their response to the first mouthful.

8. Going unfamiliar places and experiencing new things.

9. Lightbulb moments.

10. Kisses.

LOL...Yeah...Michael Landon knew he was wrong. he was so serious about the show. But, obviously, not serious enought to leave the perm alone for authenticity.

@ AK They didn't have perms during frontier times? Seems like they could have made some out of lard or something out there on that there prairie. LOL I gotta co-sign on that melody at the end of the Incredible Hulk. I think they actually started using it again in the last Hulk movie with Ed Norton.

@ Brig I have to really do the laying down in the backyard and stargazing thing again. I started doing it after going to the Pacific Beach in LA for the first time. By the time we got back to MS I was missing the ocean and the closest thing I could find to it was the sky so I would just go outside at day or night and gaze into the cosmos. Good Times!

Oh. I was downtown ATL today and thought of some really cool things that just fire me up though they're pretty simple.

1)Driving a car and making all of the green traffic lights smoothly. Ha. LOVE THAT!
2)Watching an impromptu electric slide break out when a bunch of mughs who dig each others company are in the spot.
3)Watching a friend who I didn't think was much of a dancer (cause she is pretty clumsy in real life) throw down at a New Years eve party with all of the tightest dance moves from the 80s. I love seeing non-dancers dance well!
4)A good pair of new shoes. Dang!
5)Sucking my teeth after eating a particularly good meal to get the food residue out and of course swallowing it! LOL
