I hear some folks argue over whether or not Michael Jackson invented the Moonwalk. I'd prefer to say that Michael was simply dancing with the spirits of dancers before him. Just goes to show you how universal some dance moves can be over time...

Words

General George S. Patton
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.

Albert Einstein
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices.

Susan B. Anthony
Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences.

The Talmud
“Join the company of Lions rather than assume the lead among Foxes.”

Retired General Eric K. Shinseki
Veterans Affairs Secretary for Obama Administration
“You must love those you lead before you can be an effective leader. You can certainly command without that sense of commitment, but you cannot lead without it. And without leadership, command is a hollow experience, a vacuum often filled with mistrust and arrogance.”

USAIN BOLT PROVES HE'S NOT HUMAN, AGAIN...

Usain Bolt is starting to become a walking (or running) Michael Jordan/Larry Byrd “Nothing But Net” commercial.

When Bolt blasted the world record for the 100M dash in the Beijing Games, he did it while cracking jokes at the starting block, with a shoe untied, reacting last to the gun and coasting across the finish line.

Mr. Bolt has recently done

Sage Fever

I am lying here on my bed with my baby girl sitting on my stomach. She is active and smiling. This is a major switch from 2 days ago. wsyyhrhhk,hj , That was Sage tryig to explain things through her typing. I have been feeling down and drained because my angel had a viral infection. Her fever reached to 102.4 . You would have never known she was sick because she was still her excitable self. However when she stopped eating I got worried. I couldnt eat either. I often heard parents say that they… Continue

MJ MEMORIAL: THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH - Will Massive Internet Traffic Shut Down the Internet on 7/7/09?

SOME RECORD COMPANIES PARTY LIKE IT'S 1999

Did you hear about the new Stone Roses box set to be released by Sony Music on August 10th?

Let’s start with the price. I found a copy being sold on hhv.de for $202.43. tower.com will sell the box set for $147.98.

This is what you get for your money: a remastered copy of the Stone Roses debut album, an additional CD containing “extra” tracks (‘AA’ and B sides); a “Lost Demos” disc of 15 tracks; everything I just mentioned on a 3-LP set pressed on 18

From The Roots

Growing up in Virginia the first part of my life left so much to be explained. I did not get that understanding until I was much older. I listen to my grandparents stories while they sat around in my great grandmothers living room drinking and dancing. The stories of how they were treated and how we could not touch anything in the stores when we were children. I use to say if we are thinking of buying it why can't we touch it? In my mind it was all crazy. I remeber being taken out of my school o… Continue

Black Is Still Beautiful

There was a time when you said I wasn’t beautiful
There was a time when my skin was to black or to yellow reminding you of how dirty I was to be mixed with your blood
There was a time when my hair was un natural

Little child growing up black

When I looked in the mirror my hair was a problem
Wasn’t straight enough -wasn’t long and free- so pressing combs and perms became my friend and nap oh my enemy

After while it left burnt scars and perms left me bald
So I started over and decided to become… Continue

ON THIS 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND...

This time of the year usually reminds me of a story from my childhood. There was a teen-aged boy back in the old neighborhood who REALLY loved fireworks. We all loved fireworks as kids -- especially anything that went BOOM -- but this young cat had to rank in the top ten for BOOM lovers.

One day during the run-up to the 4th of July (back when kids used to openly shoot-off fireworks every day at least 45-60 days prior to Independence Day), the Teen Who

50 Years Of The Road Most Trod

Hola, Loved Ones!

I'm not so much a cruiser when it comes to taking road trips. I like driving...FAST. If I have to slog down the road I get hella bored and anxious. I like to get to the destination...FAST. Perhaps I was born under the wrong sign.

Childhood Hangout

Earlier this week,I decided to go back to a spot where I used to hangout with my friends. We were about 12 years old and did not think about the fact that we were trespassing under a railroad bridge. This railroad bridge sat next to an old Army Reserve base very close to our neighborhood.

I went back and discovered some immaculate graffiti while getting devoured by mosquitoes. I think this is some of the best graffiti I've seen in Milwaukee thus far.… Continue

delirium tremens

you make me remember what i miss
a kind word - a wet kiss

i want to be angry
dont want to see in you
but i do

it been fine
all this talk

but all of a sudden
there are no more words
only breath and
i remember

the taste
the smell
the heaven
the hell

didn't know i was all alone
til i saw you

didn't know i needed
til i wanted you

didn't want warmth
until you smiled

and the cold world
blew through

how long was it
since this
was less than enough

let me look at you and hate you

I dream of flaming orchards

Le Luce
I dream
To recall and lose all

This reality is quite awful when i step back and see it
To think
That no thing will satisfy my questions
not even the answers

I've had them all
And I think I'm bored really.

I've had it with the pretended speech in
utter silence
and with the screaming of thoughts

So many subjects to keep me in anger
A host of qualms as my acquaintances
The list is growing

The tree is burning
A line is blurring.

My knowledge is better off dead

My thoughts on MJ

Showmanship!

Imagine being the victim of a borderline sociopath, trying to control you through beatings, insults and humiliation. Think of the stinging insults coming from your own father. He’s ugly…his nose is too big. ADOLESENCE! And the pressure to get it right or get an ass-whippin’. He had to deal with pressures of the spotlight…coming out of the civil rights movement…struggling with your identity when so many signals from the world and from your own people (THE MOST PAINFUL) say that you… Continue

The Obligatory Tirade Against The Vultures and Buzzards Called The Media...

Okay, these comments are just thoughts. Nothing to read into deeply, these are just thoughts pathos with some remnant of ethos and logos sprinkled about. Here's the deal, A lot of us have make the expected Michael Jackson joke that was in bad taste. I'm not excluded, but I've noticed how the media is hypocritical by trying to emanate this feeling of lament. But, the media plays a major part in his downfall.

Okay, we can all agree that Michael was how can I put this...fucking weird. Thing is, in… Continue
